About the project

About the project

About the project

GlavPivTrest is a unique place that immerses guests in the atmosphere of the 1970s and 80s, the era of a burgeoning communist society. This restaurant, styled after the socialist period, has become a true symbol of Bishkek, where every element of the interior and every detail of the design evokes the times when beer was more than just a drink—it was an essential part of an important cultural tradition.

Here, guests can enjoy not only the taste of beer but also the ambiance of that era. The menu features dishes that were once popular in Soviet-era restaurants: delicacies, favorite snacks, and flavors familiar to many.

  • Project Goals and Objectives

  • Reflect the restaurant's unique concept and atmosphere: Design a website that embodies the spirit of the 1970s and 80s, visually connecting users to the restaurant’s socialist-era theme.

  • Provide a seamless online experience: Create an intuitive, user-friendly platform for browsing the menu, learning about the restaurant, and accessing delivery options.

  • Facilitate home dining: Develop an efficient ordering and delivery system to bring the GlavPivTrest experience to customers’ homes.

  • Engage and attract customers: Ensure the website is visually appealing, functional, and capable of drawing in both loyal patrons and new visitors.

  • Enhance the brand connection: Use design and UX elements to emotionally connect users with the restaurant, strengthening their bond with its unique identity.

Project analysis and research

Project analysis and research

Defining Tasks and Goals

At the initial stage, we gathered all the necessary information about the project: the restaurant's uniqueness, its concept, and its target audience. The primary goal was to create a user-friendly website that reflects the atmosphere of the 1970s and 80s, preserves the spirit of the Soviet era, and simultaneously serves as a modern tool for placing orders.

Market Analysis and Best Practices

We studied the characteristics of the niche market: how concept-based restaurants integrate online menus and delivery services. Key advantages of such solutions were identified, such as an intuitive catalog structure, visually appealing presentation of dishes, and a streamlined ordering process. Special attention was given to details that enhance user experience, such as dish filters, “Menu Hits” sections, and personalized recommendations.

Competitor Analysis

We conducted competitive research, analyzing websites of restaurants in Bishkek and other cities with similar concepts. Both strengths (e.g., stylish design adaptations) and weaknesses (e.g., poor mobile versions, complex menu structures) were identified. Additionally, we reviewed best practices from international restaurants to incorporate their successful approaches.

Online Menu Usage Contexts

Through our research, we identified the main use cases for the website: selecting dishes for home delivery, browsing the menu before visiting the restaurant, and searching for restaurant information. These findings shaped our design approach — simplicity, fast loading speeds, a focus on visual dish presentation, and seamless integration of quick delivery.

Prototyping

Prototyping

Prototyping

Based on the data collected during the research phase, we created a website structure that reflects the project's key objectives. The primary focus was on user convenience: easy access to the menu, information about the restaurant, including its unique atmosphere and concept. Every element of the website was designed to emphasize the spirit of the interior and the 1970s-80s theme.

Sketches and Page Concepts

The first step was sketching the website pages by hand. On paper, we outlined the main blocks to determine how the information would be arranged on each page. This step helped us visualize the idea and set the overall design direction.

Prototyping

The next step was transferring the sketches to a digital format. We developed a low-fidelity prototype to test the primary user flows and ensure the structure’s usability. After approval, we moved on to a high-fidelity prototype, adding a grid system and refining the composition while considering the project’s visual style.

This stage allowed us to create a user-friendly and logical website structure that combines functionality with visual presentation, fully conveying the restaurant's unique atmosphere.

Design concept and layout

Design concept and layout

The website design drew inspiration from the restaurant's interior. Deep dark green was chosen as the primary color, symbolizing coziness and harmony while reflecting the atmosphere of the 1970s-80s era. This shade became a key element of the visual style, reinforcing the restaurant's spirit and creating a cohesive connection between the website and the establishment.

Modular Architecture

Modular Architecture

The website was built using a modular architecture, allowing for logically organized content and a user-friendly interface. Each section of the site functions as a standalone module, such as the menu, restaurant information, promotions, or guest reviews. This approach provides flexibility, enabling easy adaptation or the addition of new elements.

Modern and User-Friendly Design

Modern and User-Friendly Design

Our goal was to create a modern design that is both visually appealing and highly user-friendly. The layout was structured to ensure an intuitive interface: large content blocks, legible fonts, and minimalist elements that simplify navigation. This makes the site accessible to a wide audience — from regular patrons to new users placing orders for the first time.

  • Customer review

"Working on the GlavPivTrest project provided me with valuable insights into how digital solutions can enhance the customer experience in the niche of concept restaurants. One of the key challenges was creating a website that not only fulfills its functional purpose but also immerses users in the unique atmosphere of the establishment.

Through a carefully chosen color palette and visual elements that echo the restaurant's interior, we established an emotional connection with the audience from the very first interaction with the site.

I realized the importance of simplicity and usability in website structure for this niche. A modular approach allowed us to organize content in a way that enables users to quickly find the information they need, whether it's the menu, promotions, or delivery options. Additional features, such as personalized dish recommendations and visual previews, streamlined the decision-making process and made the overall interaction more comfortable, both online and offline.

The key takeaway from this project is that digital solutions should seamlessly complement the establishment’s concept. Every design element, UX decision, and piece of copy should not only be functional but also emotionally engaging, creating a cohesive and memorable experience for the customer. This approach not only motivates visitors to return but also strengthens their connection with the brand, ensuring that their interaction is as comfortable and meaningful as possible.
